The British measurement company Solartron Metrology has just launched a brand-new electronic probe with features never before seen from any other manufacturer. The company states that this represents a significant step forward for the Solartron Metrology brand in the electronic probe field in 2026. The DP-I is committed to providing extensive customization options for more advanced applications, along with the ability to program measurements and expand measurement capabilities with integrated electronic circuitry. Combining the new electronic probe with the world's most advanced sensor technology will undoubtedly improve measurement speed while maintaining high accuracy.

Its aluminium-pin connector with physical lock ensures secure connections, while design offers full compatibility and seamless integration of all Solartron products, including SI units. Orbit3 ready with enhanced hotswap functionality, the DP-I supports uninterrupted operation and future-proof scalability for all applications.

    Reduce downtime, optimize operating time

Unlike older modules, the DP-I electronic probe is typically calibrated more by the sensor head than by cable, making replacement, repair, or maintenance more convenient without interrupting the machine. This new design of the DP-I electronic probe allows users to use cables up to 10 meters without recalibration. This feature is also considered helpful when changing the working position of the fixtures.

    Secure and reliable connection

The DP-I electronic probe features an integrated pin connector (made of aluminum) with a mechanical lock. This new feature ensures the connection is protected from external factors, while also improving transmission quality. Furthermore, the DP-I electronic probe can connect to Solartron Metrology's SI controllers and other products supplied by the company.

Fully integrated with the Orbit3 system

One of the benefits of purchasing the DP-I electronic probe is its seamless integration with the Orbit3 system. When the Orbit3 system is operating multiple sensors simultaneously, the hotswap feature allows for quick replacement of faulty or damaged sensors. This is one of the features Solartron Metrology aims to introduce in 2026 to ensure seamless production, reducing downtime and machine interruptions.

    Compact, Durable, and Flexible

The DP-I electronic probe is extremely flexible, durable, and robust. With its sturdy housing and smaller size compared to other probes, the DP-I electronic probe sets a new standard for electronic probe modules. Furthermore, thanks to its construction materials, the DP-I has high resistance to external magnetic fields.

    KEY FEATURES

    • No Downtime : Enhanced hotswap capabilities, with no need to recalibrate as the DP-I electronics are calibrated to the sensor, not the cable.

    • Flexibility : Compatible with any cable length up to 10 metres, eliminates need for reorders on different setups.

    • Compatibility : 100% compatible with Orbit3 systems. Seamless integration with all readouts, software, and interface modules.

    • Superior Performance : Retains Solartron standard, this fully digitised product has superior performance to traditional LVDTs.

    • Resistance : High resistance to external magnetic fields.

    • Full Range : Works with all transducer measuring ranges.
