Displacement sensors monitor crop growth and correlate with water, light, pollution, and soil quality. The compact system doesn't affect plants and classifies them by soil type. Engineers developed a device to attach LVDT sensors directly to crops for field tests, connected via GPRS for safety and efficiency.

1. Problem

In today's era, climate-related issues have become one of the most significant and specialized fields of science. Analytical methods for assessing the impacts of water scarcity are constantly evolving. To help the agricultural world better understand the irrigation processes and their influences, we have decided to utilize displacement sensors. These sensors will be installed to monitor the growth process of crops and correlate it with standard factors such as water availability, sunlight exposure, pollution toxins, soil quality, chemicals, and more.

Our system not only needs to be compact but also should not interfere with the growth process of crops or fruits. Each plant species exhibits unique behavior, and the scientists responsible for analysis must have the ability to classify each type of plant based on the characteristics of different types of soil.

Our OEM has developed a customized fixture to securely attach the LVDT sensor directly onto plant samples. Tests can be conducted directly in the field, anywhere in the world. Communication will be facilitated through low-power consumption electronics, including GPRS transfer mode.

We also ensure that the system's protection index is maximized, prioritizing the attainment of IP67 standards.

This sensor is used to monitor the growth process of crops under irrigation conditions and other environmental factors such as water, sunlight, pollution levels, soil quality, and chemicals. By measuring changes in these parameters, such as variations in the curvature of crops, users can assess the status of the crops and the impact of environmental factors on them. This helps improve agricultural productivity and optimize the use of water and other resources in farming practices.

2. Solution

We have opted for the Analog S Series or SR Series sets. Their expanded ranges and the flexibility of their mechanical options make for the perfect combination.

With an IP67 or IP68 rating and a stainless steel body with sealing, they are fully compatible with the outdoor environment.

Customers can analyze system behavior using a wireless tablet or laptop. In case of emergencies, the device can send alerts directly via a GPRS communication device.

The stability and accuracy of the electronics meet the customer's objectives for evaluating water cycles. The universality of the device in every operation mode, in the lab or in the field, provides a perfect means for understanding physical and physiological processes related to water savings and use.
