Hexagon is a member company of Hexagon AB headquartered in Sweden. It is present in most Asian countries such as Japan, South Korea and India. It entered Vietnam in 2008 and opened its representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2010, but the company has increasingly asserted its position in the metrological field. Vietnam Business Forum has an interview with Mr Taveesak Srisuntisuk, CEO of Hexagon Metrology (Thailand) Co., Ltd.
Could you please tell us in which fields and industries Hexagon’s measuring tools are used?
Measuring devices enable companies to make more precise products. These devices are used in all industrial sectors such as automotive industry. The precision is micrometre. For example, Samsung in Hanoi has bought hundreds of Hexagon measuring devices in the latest two years. Last year, we sold big devices to automaker Ford Vietnam and GE Group. We can provide devices that can measure very small and very big objects in aviation, shipping, automobile, electronics and moulds.
What is the concept and principle of smart production of Hexagon measuring equipment?
Previously, measurements and data analysis were done by humans, but Hexagon has now developed software to automatically calculate and analyse parameters, and results will be sent to computers or robots or other machines to programme production. This closed production method helps minimise defects and information is processed more quickly.
This is a new concept of automation industry, featured by more and quicker interaction with robots. This is also one of measures for our company to have a new image with smart measuring devices.
For example, companies in Vietnam use measuring devices and they can still transfer data to offices in Thailand or anywhere else. We can know how our devices are functioning.

What are Hexagon's principal activities in Vietnam?
Currently, Hexagon only sells machines and provides training on how to operate machines in Vietnam. If they encounter problems in operating machines, they will solve on their own and Hexagon will help in case of machine failures.
What is Hexagon’s development strategy in Vietnam in the next five years?
Currently, we only have representative offices in Vietnam. According to the plan, we will set up a limited liability company in Vietnam next year. Hexagon will also open more showrooms in Vietnam and will recruit a team of Vietnamese engineers to focus on improving training skills for engineers and cooperate with manufacturing companies in Vietnam.
We also want to understand more about the Vietnamese market to have more investment strategies. Since its presence in Vietnam, Hexagon has decided to attend Metalex Vietnam, an international exhibition. Last year, Metalex Vietnam marked the 10th edition in Vietnam and Hexagon has participated in six consecutive editions where it could access a lot of new potential customers as well as FDI firms in Vietnam. Hexagon wants to recommend its products to all companies even those using products of other manufacturers.
