For applications involving concrete used in bridges and overpasses, laboratories sometimes measure the creep of concrete material. This involves taking a sample of concrete subjected to stress, then measuring how far it stretches before failure. These testing devices often require a load sensor, as well as a high-precision sensor to measure the distance of elongation.
Solartron Metrology provides LVDT sensors to meet the needs of measuring the "creep" of concrete material and similar laboratory testing equipment. The advantages of these sensors include:
- High Resolution: Solartron's converters have a resolution of up to 0.01 micron, enabling detection of even the smallest displacements of the material.
- Fast Response: Solartron's LVDT probes provide almost instantaneous feedback, with no waiting time, when any displacement occurs in the laboratory environment.
- Long-Term Stability: Solartron's LVDT sensors can maintain accuracy and repeatability over many years without degradation or time-related errors.
- Digital Options: Solartron offers a digital Orbit® network, eliminating the need for external calibration for applications requiring high accuracy.
A Solartron Gauging probe and a Strain Gauge Interface Module (SGIM) along with the Orbit® Network allow connection of a load cell and digital probes, and the output can be connected to a computer via Excel or other software, or to a display device such as the SI 8500. This allows data collection and display of measurement results on a convenient and analyzable interface.
