These testing devices often require a load sensor, as well as a high-precision sensor to measure the distance of elongation.

A Solartron Gauging probe and a Strain Gauge Interface Module (SGIM) along with the Orbit® Network allow connection of a load cell and digital probes, and the output can be connected to a computer via Excel or other software, or to a display device such as the SI 8500. This allows data collection and display of measurement results on a convenient and analyzable interface.
