Lithium battery manufacturing industry

As a benefit of the invention and application of commercial lithium batteries, technology and products in many fields of manufacturing industry have been rapidly developed, and played a milestone role in the progress of global human science and technology. Our customer is located in China's Yangtze river delta region, is an experienced lithium battery manufactuer, is a domestic leading level of lithium battery production base; their lithium battery produced are with good quality and being used by customers from China domestic, the America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa etc.

Based on the large scale of production and strict production standards, our customer is very concerned about the guarantee of product quality and the improvement of production efficiency while ensuring product quality. The regular inspection and evaluation of production equipment provides objective, scientific, and reliable data support for these purposes.

Manufacturing Process & Customer Requirement

The production process of lithium battery, generally, mainly divided into three procedures; In the "coating" and "rolling" stage of the 1st process, the "winding" stage of the 2nd process, and the "forming and packaging" stage of the 3rd process, the API laser tracker provides the evaluation or guidance data for the production equipment in this stage, which provides a strong guarantee for the smooth implementation of each process.

Customer requirement:

1.The flatness error of the main plane structure of the winding machine is better than 0.1mm;

2. The parallelism error between the rollers (coating machine and rolling press machine) is better than 0.2mm;

3. The flatness accuracy of the all-in-one production machine's substrate is better than 0.1mm;

4. The installation guidance of a newly installed coating machine production line, requires providing all-round and high-precision data support within a long range of more than 30 meters, and guiding the placement of irregular parts and rollers.

To fulfil the customer needs, API recommended customer to buy the OT2 (Radian Plus) model laser tracker; OT2 (Radian Plus) laser tracker can provide micron level of 3D measurement accuracy, and this can fully meet customer requirements for error measurement accuracy; and the use of wireless data transmission and battery power supply system, also its flexible installation feature, can provide a combination of efficiency and accuracy.

 

During the measurement:

1. The API OT2 (Radian Plus) laser tracker is set up next to the winding machine to be measured. By using the SMR (the target of laser tracker) to touch the points to be measured on the plane structure of the machine, then the 3D data of these points are obtained by the laser tracker; after this, we set up a standard plane in software; we can then to compare the actual collected data with the standard plane, and get the flatness error.

 

2. To select a good position to set up the OT2 (Radian Plus) laser tracker, use the SMR to collect points data on the surface of the press rollers to be measured; Through the 3D data of these points collected, the structure of the press roller can be fitted in the software and the central axis can be calculated as well. By comparing the parallelism between the central axes of each press roller in the software, the parallelism error between the press rollers can be obtained.

 

3. The measuring method of the flatness error of the substrate of all-in-one machine is similar to the measurement of the flatness error of the plane structure of the winding machine. Set up the laser tracker well in the appropriate position, to use SMR to touch the substrate and collect the points' 3D data and record in software, and then to set up a standard plane in software, to compare the actual collected data with the nominal value on the standard plane, and the flatness error data can be analyzed.

 

4. The length of coating machine production line is more than 30 meters; API OT2 (Radian Plus) laser tracker has more than 80 meters radius measurement range (50 meters and 80 meters measurement radius model optional), and this perfectly covered the whole length of the coating machine; Moreover, the actual measurement proves that the fitting accuracy of the transfer station is better than 0.047mm, which fully meets the customer's demand of "providing all-round and high-precision measurement data".
