The Equator–X™ 500 is a groundbreaking measurement system from Renishaw, specifically designed to provide the latest advanced measurement solutions for on-the-floor process control. Technology and Structure

• Hexapod Design: The Equator-X 500 uses a rigid hexapod structure, with six linear motors that move the probe. This structure minimizes speed-related errors often found in traditional 3-axis CMMs.
• Independent Frame System: The device features two independent frames: a drive frame and a metrology frame. This allows the drive frame to be optimized for high speed without compromising measurement performance.
• Carbon Fiber Metrology Frame: The metrology frame is made of carbon fiber, a stiff and lightweight material that helps maintain accuracy at high speeds. The system also has temperature compensation capabilities through a thermal expansion model of the carbon fiber struts, allowing for stable operation in environments with temperatures ranging from +5°C to +50°C.

"Two-in-One" Dual Measurement Modes

The Equator–X™ 500 offers maximum flexibility thanks to its ability to operate in two different measurement modes:

• Compare Mode: When used in this mode, the Equator-X 500 can achieve extremely fast scanning speeds, up to 500 mm/s, with a repeatability of ±2 µm. This mode is ideal for high-volume component production in mass-production factories, where productivity is the top priority and the environment has fluctuating temperatures.
• Absolute Mode: This mode allows the device to scan and measure parts at speeds up to 250 mm/s. Absolute Mode is particularly useful for low-to-medium volume production or for products with many variations, as well as high inspection frequency.
