The Leitz PMM-C is a fixed bridge/moving table-type coordinate measuring machine. It combines ultra-high accuracy with outstanding speed, thus ensuring a very high throughput. This coordinate measuring machine is fast, affordable and allows to perform all measuring tasks, even the most complex ones. The Leitz PMM-C is also offered as a gear inspection center. It can accommodate maximum outside diameters up to 1550 mm.

The Leitz PMM-C line of high-performance CMMs combines ultra-high accuracy with unmatched high machine dynamics. This results in extreme short cycle times and therefore very high throughput. Fast data gathering and advanced High-Speed-Scanning further improve the throughput for efficient process control.
The Leitz 3D probe technology with integrated High-Speed-Scanning enables fast collection of large point numbers. Coordinate measuring machines of the PMM-C series are also capable of form inspection.
Measuring machines of the Leitz PMM-C series are also used as gear checkers. Very fast and ultra precise inspection of any kind of gears up to a diameter of 1550 mm is possible with those machines. Gear cutting tools such as hob cutters, broaches, shaper cutters and shaving gears can also be measured.
Leitz PMM-C gear checkers provide several advantages compared to a conventional single purpose gear checker:
LSP-S2 Probe Head
With horizontal probe extensions of up to 800 mm length the continuous High-Speed-Scanning probe head LSP-S2 allows the measurement of features deep inside a work piece. Its integrated automatic weight balance system can carry styli configurations of up to 1000 g. LSP-S2 is the ideal probe head for long styli.
Probing deflections are measured via high resolution Linear Variable Differential Transducers (LVDT). The LSP-S2 supports all the standard probing modes like Single Point Probing, Self-Centering as well as Continuous High-Speed-Scanning for fast and accurate form and profile measurements. Like all other Leitz probe heads, the LSP-S2 provides simultaneous and unclamped probing in all axis, always orthogonal to the surface. This allows the correct compensation of any styli deflection.
Leitz Precitec LR Optical White Light Sensor
As an option or addition to the 3D probe head the Leitz Precitec LR Optical White Light Sensor is available. This sensor uses a chromatic confocal measurement method and is ideal for applications in the area of lenses (glass, plastics), surfaces and profiles.
HP-O optical sensor
The new optical HP-O technology enables the measuring throughput to be further increased on the ultra-precise Leitz PMM-C from Hexagon Metrology. Even the measurement of large workpieces, rotationally symmetric parts and hard-to-reach features has been significantly simplified and accelerated.
The new scanning technology is based on interferometric distance measurement with sub-micron resolution. The optical sensors used in this process have a diameter of just 3 mm. They can be replaced automatically during a measurement run and do not require any special ambient light.
Sensitive surfaces, such as copper or lead, shiny and reflective surfaces as well as deformation-critical structures on components can be inspected without pretreatment.
