To meet the demands and overcome the difficulties in measuring paper manufacturing machinery, API provides the Radian Plus laser tracker device, enabling this measurement to realize all related metrology requirements.
The successful 3D measurement project on large offshore items in Vietnam, executed through the partnership between V-Proud (Vietnam) and Kvejborg ApS (Denmark), is more than just a successful contract. It is compelling evidence that in the era of Industry 4.0, technical standardization is the key to unlocking seamless cross-continental collaboration, delivering superior efficiency and quality to global clients.
In the dynamic context of Vietnamese industry, which is rapidly transforming and integrating deeply into the global supply chain, geometric accuracy is no longer an option but a vital requirement. Amidst this constant current, V-PROUD has positioned itself not merely as a service provider, but as an ambassador of precision, silently ensuring the quality and stable operation of key national industrial projects.
To meet the demands and overcome the difficulties in measuring paper manufacturing machinery, API provides the Radian Plus laser tracker device, enabling this measurement to realize all related metrology requirements.

The Radian Plus laser tracker device is portable, precise, has a wide range, and offers high performance. It can provide 3D measurement accuracy at the micron level, and an ultra-high sampling rate of 1,000Hz ensures excellent performance for both static and dynamic measurement needs.
With a measuring range of over 160 meters, the Radian Plus laser tracker can solve the measurement needs of paper machinery within a wide range of tens of meters. Furthermore, the Radian Plus laser tracker uses a battery power system and a wireless data transmission module, allowing for completely wireless, accurate measurement operations. It is fearless of complex measuring environments and narrow spaces, simple to operate, and easy to use.

In this case, a Radian Plus laser tracker was used to measure and evaluate the following:
Coaxiality and parallelism of the press rolls, guide rolls, and drying cylinders.
Flatness and horizontality of the bearing housing mounting base surface.
The circular runout of the drying cylinder's end face and the straightness of the roller surface.
Symmetry and perpendicularity of the machine frame.

Laser Tracker Deployment: Set up the laser tracker in an appropriate position around the paper machine to be measured, ensuring all components needing measurement pass through that position.
Coordinate System Setup: Establish the measurement coordinate system within the metrology software.
Static Measurement: Use a high-precision 1.5-inch SMR target ball, along with various pins and seats, to quickly collect the center coordinates of different bearing housings, measure the end face of the drying cylinder, cross-section circumference points of the roller surface, as well as scan the critical mounting plane of the frame.
Verification of Dynamic Measurement Simulation: In a low-speed state, track and measure the radial runout and axial runout of the main roller; collect the changing coordinates of key points on the drying cylinders during the temperature increase process, to assess the impact of thermal deformation caused by the operation.
Data Analysis and Adjustment Guidance: Using the collected measurement data, employ the metrology software to determine the coaxiality of each roller as required. Determine the coaxiality error, parallelism deviation, flatness, circular runout deviation, etc., of each roller; generate a visual deviation report and detailed data list; then use the measurement report as supporting data to guide on-site adjustment and precisely correct deviations by adding or removing bearing shims and fine-tuning the rack position.
The Radian Plus laser tracker, with its measurement accuracy up to 0.7 microns, wide measuring range, and excellent performance in dynamic/static conditions, fully meets the critical position measurement needs of large paper machine main shafts, reel shafts, drying cylinders, stands, and other important locations. After calibration using the Radian Plus laser tracker, the coaxiality of the paper machine's main reel shaft, the flatness of the mounting base surface, and the dynamic runout error during operation all met the design standards. The measurement process, which traditionally took many days, was completed in a very short time, significantly improving work efficiency while saving time and costs for the enterprise.
